Driving Instructor Training
At Coles we offer the most flexible way of training to become a Driving Instructor.
First do you qualify?

  • You must have held a full manual licence for three and a half year
  • Have no more than 3 points on your licence
  • Have no serious criminal convictions.
If you comply with these requirements why not come and see us and discuss your requirements.
There is no obligation to take it any further.

There are three exams that must be passed to become an Instructor.

  • Part 1 Theory plus Hazard Perception Test
  • Part 2 Driving Ability Test
  • Part 3 Teaching Ability Test

Part 1
100 multiple choice questions. The questions are in four categories, you must get 80% in each of the categories, with an overall mark of 85%. The hazard perception test is the same test that a learner driver takes but with a much higher pass mark.

Part 2
A driving test that lasts for 1 hour. You are allowed 6 minor faults. This standard is above the advanced driving test.

Part 3
The examiner acts as a pupil. For the first part of the test you will be asked to teach him as a novice pupil. The second half of the test you will be asked to teach him as a trained pupil almost ready for the driving test.
